2CW Unfinished Business III Results

Ranger Steve and Pete D. Order def. Wyld Stallions
-At the beginning of the match, Order came out and told us that Johnny Law wasn’t here but ended up finding another partner. That’s when he brought out Ranger Steve (should be a future Killer Steve). Together the team of Steve and Order won after they hit a double sandwhich type move onto a Stallion and then hit a double big splash for the victory.

Jason Axe def. Max Bauer
-Great match here actually as Axe really worked on the leg of Bauer before locking him in a sort of Haas of Pain type submission. Axe ended up telling us he wanted the belt and found it unfair that Olsen was getting another title shot.

John Walters def. Isys Ephex
-Portia Perez came out and said something about not wrestling, wasn’t really paying attention to the promo than her. Walters came out and since Dizzie didn’t come to the show (not sure why), Walters said he wanted to face Ephex. The two had big respect for each other, but it was Perez who hit Ephex with the back of the chair in the top of the head, cutting him open the hard way that gave Walters the win. He didn’t seem to happy about it afterwards about winning that way.

Jimmy Olsen, Cheech, Cloudy, and Marcos of NWA Upstate came out next and talked about how tonight they were going to defeat Slyk and all. Olsen threw the belt down and said he was going to piss on the belt, but Slyk came out only to get quad teamed before Olsen tried to beat him down. Slyk fought out of the quad team and went after Olsen, but he wiggled away just in the nick of time.

Alumni Club def. Killer Steves
-Not really the most interesting of matches as I wasn’t big into this one, but they hit an interesting finishing meanuver to defeat the Steves for the victory.

INTERMISSION

ZS3 No Contest J. Freddie
-A great, great match here that saw J. Freddie take an insanely nasty bump by jumping through the ropes only for ZS3 to move and have J. Freddie fly over the barrier and onto the ground. After being down for about a minute, a bloodied Freddie got to his feet and fought back into the ring until Cheech, Cloudy, Marcos, and a returning “Big Rig” Brodie Lee came out and ended the match prematurely. Lee told us tonight, his boot put the final nail in the coffin of 2CW.

2CW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Slyk Wagner Brown (c) def. Jimmy Olsen
-This was a great match and dare I say had the fans more behind it than the main event. After brawling all over the crowd and all, Slyk ended up winning with his powerbomb on Olsen to retain the belt and it’s possession. Jason Axe interfered here to help Slyk retain, but afterwards the belt at his feet.

2CW vs. NWA UPSTATE – ELIMINATION MATCH: LOSING COMPANY CAN’T RUN A SHOW FOR 90 DAYS FOLLOWING 1/1/09
Brodie Lee, Cheech, Cloudy, Marcos def. Hellcat, J.D. Love, Loca Vida, Brian Fury
-A hell of a match that saw Love, Loca, and Fury all go down before it looked like Hellcat was going to rejoin Upstate. After doing the clique thing in the ring, he pinned Cloudy, then Cheech, Marcos and it came down to him and Lee. It took three boots by Brodie to keep him down, but it did.

Afterwards, Patterson got on the mic and asked them if they knew who the fuck he was. He then said they cost him a lot of money and it was time for him to bring HIS boys into the ring. SWB, J. Freddie, ZS3, and I think Axe all came down and cleared house before the show ended.

Daily Wrestling #1

Vladimir Kozlov Entering The Arena

Image via Wikipedia

Daily Wrestling is where I will write about whatever wrestling I have watched that day.  It might be new, old, DVDs, VHS, downloads, US, Japan, Mexico, women, etc.  It could be one hour or a 24 hour marathon.  Each “issue” will be numbered for my benefit and yours.

Daily Wrestling #1:  WWE Friday Night Smackdown October 3, 2008 and October 10, 2008.

After two weeks of the new Smackdown on MyNetworkTV, I still find the opening to be awful.  Terrible music, and the Smackdown opening has never looked as cool as Raw’s.  Even the ECW opening is interesting.  Maybe it’s the blue color scheme.

Other than each man attacking the other, or hitting finishing moves at random, I’ve been given no reason to care about the Jeff Hardy/ Triple H/ Vladmir Kozlov feud.  Kozlov wants competition, great, but I’ve yet to see him do anything, besides these attacks, to earn a title shot.  A US title shot, maybe, but not a World title.  Also, if he is picked for Cyber Sunday, is this his first PPV appearance?  If so, his first PPV will be in a World title match, that he could possibly win just to shake up the “WWE Universe”.  This isn’t a huge name coming in from another federation, this is an unproven talent that is being forced at the fans.  With a headbutt for a finishing move.  A headbutt.  Even the Samoans don’t use a headbutt as a finisher, and they’re known for having indestructible heads.  I hope in Triple H’s quest to be the greatest ever that he goes over in this match as, “the only man to beat two foes in a Cyber Sunday match”.

Yes, the Big Show has a strong fist.  That and he is also tall, bald, and has a liking for tigers of various colors.  Can we move on with the show now?

Never in my life did I think I would see Mark Henry and The Great Khali making “quick” tags, much less with each other as partners.  Poor Chavo.  Then, in a storyline progression, he’s at Vickie’s side the next week!  Is anyone booked as a weaker human being than Chavo Guerrero?

To R-Truth.  I don’t care to know “what’s up?”  I want you to get to the ring, wrestle an entertaining match, and show the world that you can hang with the likes of Shelton Benjamin and MVP.  Two men that should be receiving your push, as they are great WWE Superstars.  That being said, these three men should either team up or go off into different feuds instead of being the “black portion” of Smackdown.

I’ll write this a lot, but the future of WWE is here now.  Team Priceless vs. the Colons and CM Punk was just one view of it.  Should these kids ever get together backstage it would be a revolution not seen in wrestling since the Kliq.  This could be for good, exciting main events, ladder matches, leading into the Attitude era; or for bad — nWo, quad tears, the end of kayfabe, no wait its back, but there it goes again.

Throughout the October 3 episode the Raw champions looked stronger.  Santino won, Beth won, and CM Punk made the pin for his team (not a Raw champion, but a Raw brand wrestler).  Until the great Triple H comes out with the only pin for the Smackdown side.  Now I understand that with the new network there was a desire to make Smackdown the number one show.  Triple H and Jim Ross were brought over to achieve this goal.  But is making HHH the only force on the roster the best way to go about it?  He’s destroying everyone in his path, and making them look weak.  The Smackdown main event for WrestleMania will have to involve a Raw star switching brands, because by then there will be no legitimate challengers left on Smackdown that the great H has not already defeated.

Kung Fu Naki?  Seriously?

What exactly is an “incentive bonus” for MVP?  At this point I hope its a move to Raw.

Kizarny.  I can’t wait.  This could be a cool crazy gimmick up there with Waylon Mercy and Sean O’Haire.  Unfortunately, it’ll probably last just as long as those previous ones.

Kenny Dykstra and Ryan Braddock?  Guys, you have ECW right there.  Its a show to help these young talents improve and become main eventers.  It works too, look at the success you’ve had with Miz, John Morrison, and Evan Bourne.  Move these guys over there, please.

The Great Khali and Runjin Singh come out.  Talk about Johnny Knoxville and Jackass.  They show the Khali kiss cam from Raw.  Khali destroys three independent wrestlers.  Ok, he destroys one of them, the other two run out of the ring.  They bring in a woman from the audience to kiss Khali on the Khali Kiss Cam.  They find a rather large fan to come into the ring, she’s dressed like well, like a wrestling fan.  Khali kisses her in his best acting since The Longest Yard.

I can see the glass ceiling, and the ladder to reach it, from here for Smackdown.  Triple H at the top.  Undertaker (now looking weak) and Big Show (bossed around by a woman) right below.  Jeff Hardy below that, with a foot on his fingers, trying to kick him down a notch.  Shelton, MVP, and Truth — amazing talents all — are feuding over the Black US title.  Any young talents are given comedic gimmicks, so fans don’t take them too seriously, or no wins — thus no push.  But those saying, “there are no new stars” the gods of the WWE Universe will point to Vladmir Kozlov.  That’s the best you can give me?  A Cold War- era recycled gimmick with a wrestler not nearly as talented as past Russians.

Where is my current heel?  Someone from the Middle East?  From North Korea?  A rich billionaire who is buying up mortgages and forcing people out of their homes.  Get really controversial, have Finlay and Hornswoggle dress up as priests, yet still invite children into the ring with them.  Don’t do anything further than that, you won’t need to.  But a Russian?  Where is that a threat besides Atlanta?  (See, Atlanta is in the state of Georgia, while Russia is fighting with its neighboring country also named Georgia.  Also, WCW was based in Atlanta, thus giving me two jokes for the price of one.)

Of course, even if we had that heel, Triple H would squash him.

ECW Report (September 30, 2008).

On this week’s episode of ECW from Green Bay, Wisconsin:

Matt Hardy, Mark Henry, the Miz, and John Morrison all talk.   Teddy Long sets up tonight’s main event.

Jack Swagger pins Lenny Lane after a Doctor Bomb.

Mike Knox hits a Knox-out on Tommy Dreamer for the pin.

The team of Mark Henry, the Miz, and John Morrison beat the team of Ricky Ortiz, Evan Bourne, and Matt Hardy after Mark Henry hit the World’s Strongest Slam on Evan Bourne.

Thoughts:

Is Tiffany the only woman on ECW?

Tommy Dreamer continues in his role as mentor to younger talent.  Either on camera, coming to the aid of Lenny Lane.  Or off camera, selling his ass off for Jack Swagger and Mike Knox, thus giving them the opportunity to have more successful careers than Dreamer.  Now, I don’t think Lane will be given a WWE Contract, much like Colin Delaney‘s storyline; but there must be some future star that can be given a rub here.  What about the Smackdown jobbers?  Scotty Goldman or Ryan Braddock would kill to be involved in this feud.  It might even mean that one of them could win a match on TV.

Miz and Morrison continue to be the best tag team in wrestling today.  They’re so good in the ring, and have so much heat that they are now being used to get other people over.  Ricky Ortiz could be a solid goofy midcard level guy for years to come.  Evan Bourne is the new Rey Mysterio, with the possibility of breaking into that main event level.

But what is there to do with Mark Henry after this feud?  Most fans feel that this is as far as he will ever go, and don’t perceive him as a legitimate threat any longer.  Matt Hardy will always be cheered and pushed (at least by the fans).  I think Mark Henry needs to win at No Mercy or else face a career stalling that he may never recover from.

Random Wrestling Reviews (RWR) – ECW September 23, 2008.

To refresh:

The Miz and John Morrison insult the new Superstar initiative.

Finlay beats Bam Neely.

Maryse pins Michelle McCool.

Mike Knox pins Chase Stevens.  After the match, Tommy Dreamer and Jack Swagger get involved.

The Miz vs. John Morrison ends in a no contest.  Ricky Ortiz runs out and hits a Big O on both men.

Opinions:

Jim Ross announced this episode, along with Matt Striker and this is exactly what Striker needs to get even better.  It’s been no secret that in my opinion, Striker is the best announcer in WWE.

Ricky Ortiz is over, and I have no idea why.  He’s goofy, he’s not that great a wrestler, he is apparently a ladies man, and I love every minute he’s on TV.  It’s the most ridiculous gimmick right now, and for some reason it works.

Why do Hornswoggle and Finlay run around the ring with small children?  ‘Swoggle is an adult, not a child.  He wants to go out, drink, find a woman, and have a good time.  Not be chased by kindergarten kids.

Maryse vs. Michelle McCool is the best rivalry going right now.  Every match these two women have, they improve.  Their chemistry is outstanding, and they even progress a storyline within their bouts.  Also, the hair flip DDT is one of the best finishing moves in years.  Sure its just a DDT, but the sexy flip adds so much personality to the move.

Did I hear Jim Ross say that Mike Knox will be ECW Champion in 2008?  I’ll give him 2009, but ’08 is almost over.  Knox has improved so much, and his new brawler style/look reminds me of Bruiser Brody and Steve Williams.  Knox could be the future, which is amazing when one things of his debut during which all he had was Kelly Kelly.

Miz and Morrison are future main eventers.  I’m talking WrestleMania level main events.  They are the best tag team in wrestling today, so good they should have an official tag team name with the word “Express” in it.  That’s right, as good as the Midnight Express or Rock and Roll Express.  Now if only they had someone as good to feud with, besides each other.
